1. Bent Wire Hanger
You might not believe me if I tell you that even your wire coated hanger available at home can be used in removing blockages. This can be done by straightening and bending one end of the wire hanger. Using this is like fishing. You need to insert the end with the hook into the drain and pull out all the substances which cause the blockage. Avoid pushing these blockages away from your reach. Once you got all the substances out from your drain, flush it with hot water afterwards to completely clear the drain.
2. Baking Soda and Vinegar
A 1/3 cup of vinegar and baking soda is used in this method. Combine the two substances and pour it into the drain. This mixture has the ability to remove grime; gunk and hair build up in your pipeline. Leave the mixture in the drain for a few hours or even overnight. Then, flush it with hot water.

Plungers have different types but it has two common types which are often used by most home owners which are the standard plunger and the flange plunger. The standard plunger is used in a kitchen sink, bathtub, or areas with flat surfaces. On the other hand, the flange plunger is the one used for removing blockages in toilets.
4. Boiling Water
This is probably the easiest way to remove blockages. This is done by simply pouring hot water into your drain. Boiling water is best used in keeping your drains free from blockages. This is a quick, easy and cheap way of drain maintenance.
5. Caustic Soda
In using this material, make sure to protect yourself by wearing gloves and eye glasses. Extra care is needed in using this material as it contains chemicals which can burn your skin. This chemical is known as a Sodium Hydroxide or lye. It can be purchased in the market. Although it is quite dangerous to use, this material is indeed effective. Simply mix caustic soda with cold water then pour it into the drain. Afterwards, pour hot water into the drain.
6. Drain Snake
A drain snake is a flexible metal that has a metal spiral on its end. This is used by inserting it into your pipe and since this is flexible, it can make its way down to your pipes and blockages easily. Just keep pushing it until you feel the presence of the clog. Once the clog is broken down into pieces, it will be directly flushed into the pipe.
7. Salt and Baking Soda
This is done by simply combining the salt and baking soda. Pour it directly into the drain. Leave the mixture into the drain for several minutes then flush it with hot water afterwards. The reaction of the combination of the two substances can dissolve the clogs and can clear the pipes for the water to pass through.
8. Dish Detergent
Dish detergent can also be used in removing clogs in drains. Together with boiling water, pour it down into your blocked drain. This can break up any build up inside your pipelines. After flushing it with hot water, a plunger is required to completely free your drain from clogs.
